The journey of 300 Blankets began with a meeting with Brian, a manager of a soup van for St Vincent de Paul. It was in the discussion with Brian that we learnt that the Vinnies soup vans operate every night of the year to support and feed the disadvantaged. On any given night, one soup van serves between 50 to 300 people. Being inspired by the amazing efforts of the soup van team, we decided that we too have to play our part to assist the homeless.
Last year, Vinnies donated 10,000 blankets to the homeless community. However, as the demand for blankets out weighed the supply of donated blankets, they had no choice but to begin purchasing their own blankets to provide to the homeless. This year, 300 Blankets is proud to announce that we will assist Vinnies by donating a portion of the blankets raised at our events to their organisation.
In addition to participating in our fundraising events, we’re proud to announce that St. Vincent de Paul will have collection bins available at both of our events. Come along to the events, bring your old/new blankets and donate them directly to this amazing organisation. If you would like to start donating your blankets now, all Vinnies stores are more than happy to receive washed/dry cleaned blankets all year.
