On the 8th of December 2012, 300 Blankets was invited to help celebrate Christmas with Compeer.
Our team of volunteers arrived early with our musical performers: Sinead, Joanna and Grahame, setting up the sound system, preparing the awesome Polaroid camera and doing the final wrapping of presents. It wasn’t long till guests from Compeer started filling the restaurant bringing more excitement and chatter. Christmas was in the air.
Graham and Sinead from Music for Blankets started the entertainment with pop songs and a few traditional Christmas carols. Sinead’s amazing voice stunned guests as they enjoyed their entrees. It was incredible watching everyone so full of joy and laughter. During the formalities of the day, Compeer patron Professor Allan Fels – Chair of the National Mental Health Commission – presented a speech on the importance of mental health, highlighting the significance of having programs like Compeer in our community. In the second half of the event we had a special visit by Santa, played Christmas themed games and gave out prizes. Sinead and Joanna closed the event with more awe inspiring music.
This was a very special event for 300 Blankets to participate in and we would like to thank Compeer for the opportunity to share the warmth of friendship. The day would not have been possible without the generous time donated by our performers: Graham, Sinead and Joanna, photographers: Peter and Leslie, Santa: Santa, our corporate supporters OnTrack Lighting, Polaroid and Myer and all 300 Blanket volunteers.
